Back to blogging

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd start again by letting you know what I've been doing.  I've decorated my kitchen with Tuscan Style wine elements.  I painted the walls white, went over them with yellow then scrapped it off to make it look like the paint flaked off in places.  I've collected all kinds of wine related decor by going to yard sales and thrift stores.  I've even started making some wine crafts, and called that part of my business The Wine Rack.  I don't make wine, but I decorate wine glasses with vinyl, make coasters, magnets, wine glass charms, wine bottle charms, light switches, etc..  I take all my crafts to craft shows and festivals.  I just attended a festival in Guthrie, KY and on the way home stopped at a yard sale, and purchased 2 old windows.  We are adding a bathroom/laundry to our basement and I want to decorate that window and hang it on the wall.  This bathroom will have no real windows and I thought that would look nice.  That's all for now.

Violets Spring Card

Today I'm the designer at Card a Day Blog

The Theme is Spring cards and Violets always remind me of spring. Since I'm an amateur photographer, I also took a bunch of pictures of my spring violets, so I decided to use them as the focus in my card. I have a small collection of copic markers and have been practicing blending colors, so I though I'd try using my pictures I took.

It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be, I tried several times before I got the colors close to what I wanted.

Here are the colors I used Violets BV31, V15, V06, BV08, B28
Center Y13
 Leaves YG06, G14, G17
Shadow C1, C3
I always lay down the lightest color first, and color the whole image, ie. violet petal, then I go back and put down the darkest color, then the next darkest and blend the previous color in, I did flick the B28 on top of the BV08 then when I blended all of it with the BV31 I went over the B28 lightly. I hope that makes sense. I used C1 and C3 to go around the outside of the violets and leaves and I used nestabilities to cut out the oval and the mat. I'm not 100% happy with the way the colors turned out, what do you think?
 See you next time,
Diana

Happy Easter Card

I'm proud to be the designer featured at Card A Day Blog
Today. See below the picture for details on making this card

I used Bazill paper and stamped a swirly design on gold ink (you have to look hard to see it in the scan), I also highlighted the punched border and the score lines with the same ink. On the bottom I used my Score a Pal to make 1/2" score lines, I used a Stampin up punch for the border between the 2 papers and pop dotted my image and sentiment. I did use a slightly darker paper for the mat and the top paper, just for some contrast, but the colors are so similiar it's almost hard to see. I hope my grandkids like this card when they get it in the mail.

Wedding Card

Today we are going to make a white on white on white wedding card.
I used the dotted folder to make the textured background.
I used a heart sizzix to cut out the heart and then the Stampin up Doily die for the inside of the heart.
I used 2 sizes of flower punches, and on the large one, I punched border punches for the edges of the petals. I used brads from hobby lobby for the centers.
I used a martha stewart butterfly punch.

I haven't decided if I want a saying on the front of the card or not, my daughter is getting married this year and I want to make some awesome invites for her to choose from. Be sure and check over at http://cardadayblog.blogspot.com/ for the February Challenge.

Valentines Day Card

I was surprised by my husband this morning. He usually leaves for work before I wake up, I went to get coffee and in front of the coffee pot was this card and a bottle of wine.

He had my friend, who is a stamping up rep, make the card for him and he wrote the poem on the inside.
32 Years
32 years since the day you were asked,
The words that made your respond "Are you serious?"
It meant a lot to me then and even more now,
32 years later all I can say is wow!
Some people said that we wouldn't last,
Now 32 years later, they're in the past.
I've loved you through good and loved you through bad
But 32 years later I remember the good times we've had.
They say love is blind but my heart is sincere,
As we start off this 32nd year.
I love you today way deep in my heart.
I still remember those words "Til death do us part."
With this wine I have given I offer a toast
To 32 more years with you as my host
Happy Valentines Day,
Charles

My husband is still as romantic as he was 32 years ago, he still surprises me with candy, flowers and romance even when it's not valentines day. He actually proposed marriage to me 32 years ago on Valentines Day, and on our 25th valentines day, he asked me to renew our vows and gave me a ring, and told me he already had the church reserved for Aug. 6, which is our wedding anniversary. I think I'll keep him forever. Hope you have a great Valentines day.

This card is a fun card that adults or children would love for their birthday, I used the swirl embossing folder on the white background and matted all the items with dark green, used the same color ribbon and even though I added a pin with a dragonfly bead it still is mostly a masculine card. I have several of these made, fo different occasions to send to my male relatives and friends. The image and sentiment is from The Angel Company.
